Abdelouahed Ben-Ncer graduated from the Faculties of Science at Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University and Bordeaux University, and holds an HDR from the Faculty of Science at Mohamed V University. He is now a Professor of Higher Education in Paleoanthropology and, in this capacity, directs or co-directs several national and international archaeological and paleoanthropological research programs. He is the author of numerous works, notably in paleoanthropology.
Abdelouahed Ben-Ncer is decorated with the Royal Wissam of "Al Kafaa Al Fikria".

As part of the research, Prof Mackaye Hassane Taïsso is a member of the Franco-Chadian paleo-anthropological mission (MPFT) which discovered Toumaï (ancestor of Humanity).

Pr. Kyung Sik Woo is a Professor Emeritus who has taught at the Department of Geology, Kangwon National University, Korea since 1986. He graduated from Seoul National University and received a MS degree in Geological Oceanography at Texas A&M University and a Ph.D. degree in Geology at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. He is the Chair of IUCN WCPA Geoheritage Specialist Group and has carried out field evaluation of World Heritage nominated sites for IUCN since 2009. He was the founder and the first President of Asian Union of Speleology and he served as the President of International Union of Speleology from 2013 to 2017. He has published ten books and more than 300 International and Korean scientific papers on carbonate sedimentology and diagenesis, speleology, paleoclimatology, paleoceanography, and geoheritage, including his paleoclimatic study using speleothems in Nature in 2014. He was in charge of writing a nomination document for Jeju World Heritage, Jeju Island Global Geopark and Hantangang Global Geopark. He has received many awards including the commendation by the Minister of Environment (2001), the Prime Minister (2003), the President (2009), and received a Medal of Science and Technology by the President (2013) and a National Academy of Science Award (2017).

Pr. Ahmed EL HASSANI, Professor of Geosciences at Mohammed V University of Rabat. Former Director of the Scientific Institute (2006-2014), is a Resident Member of the Hassan II Academy of Sciences and Techniques (College of Sciences and Techniques of the Environment, Earth and Sea) since 2006. He holds a PhD in Geology from the University Louis Pasteur of Strasbourg. The research work he has undertaken covers several specialties related to geology (cartographic, structural, sedimentary environments, geological heritage, stratigraphy especially in the areas of the Moroccan Meseta and the Anti-Atlas). He has also developed a fruitful cooperation with several universities throughout the world .... His work on the Moroccan Devonian, whose components are international references, allowed him to organize several international meetings, which led him to be elected in 2004 as Vice-President of the Devonian System Subcommission (SDS-IUGS). In this sense, he has organized and directed several international symposia on the wonderful Silurian, Devonian and Carboniferous series of the Anti Atlas and Western Moroccan Meseta. He is a member of several International Geological Correlation Programs (IGCP-UNESCO). He was appointed by H.M. King Mohammed VI, in January 2006 for two successive mandates, Director of the Scientific Institute of the Mohammed V University of Rabat.

At the beginning of his experience, for the Ph.D., he worked at the Smithsonian Institution of Washington D.C. studying the coastal lagoons and the evolution of Nile Delta. In the following years he collaborated with the Thai Geological Service in the study of spits and transitional environments along the east coast of the local peninsula. With ENEA he participated in the X Italian expedition in Antarctica. He has also worked in Texas, Mexico, France and Mozambique (as expert of the Italian Foreign Ministry).
He was President of the Med Center of the EUCC - The Coastal Union based in Barcelona and for 20 years has been component of the board of the same organization.
He has collaborated in the environmental assessment impact of various public works (especially in the coastal area) and he participated in the drafting of the Territorial Landscape Plan of the Province of Messina. On behalf of the Regional Civil Protection, the Seismic Micro-zonation Plan for 19 municipalities of the island.
In 2013 he founded GEOLOGIS s.r.l., Spin Off of the University of Messina, active in the field of surveys from aerial and marine drones, using HD cameras, LiDAR, spectrophotometric-cameras and thermal imaging cameras.
On behalf of the European Union he has coordinated WPs related to coastal management (EUROSION, M.E.S.S.I.N.A.) and territorial security (eSec).
In 2020 has co-coordinated the drafting of the Regional Plan Against Coastal Erosion (PRCEC) for the Sicilian Island and he is actually involved in its implementation and diffusion.
Between 2017 and 2023 he has been the lead partner of POCKET BEACH MANAGEMENT & REMOTE SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM (BESS) project, from 2020 to 2022, he has been WP lead partner of ROBOTIC BIOREMEDIATION FOR COASTAL DEBRIS IN IN BLUE FLAG BEACH (BIOBLU) project and again lead partner, from 2023, of MULTI-DISCIPLINARY MONITORING SYSTEM FOR A RESILIENT MANAGEMENT OF COASTAL AREAS (REMACO) project, the three of them as part of the Interreg Italy - Malta Program.
He is the author of more than 140 scientific publications.

PhD geologist, researcher at the Italian Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, her scientific activity concerns geohazards, georisks, and the social, educational and communication aspects of geosciences. She is an international leader of geoethics, fully involved in the base research on ethical, social and cultural implications of geoscience knowledge, research and practice, focusing on key concepts for society such as sustainability, prevention, adaptation and geo-education. She is founding member and Secretary General of the International Association for Promoting Geoethics, Director of the School on Geoethics and Natural Issues. Among her current position, she is Chair of the Commission on Geoethics of the International Union of Geological Sciences, Chair of the Ethical Advisory Board of the European research infrastructure ICOS (Integrated Carbon Observation System), member of the Advisory Board for Climate Intervention Research of the American Geophysical Union, member of the Standing Committee for Gender Equality in Science of the International Science Council. Work package/task leader and member of advisory boards in European projects, she is Editor in Chief of the SpringerBrief in Geoethics and of the international Journal of Geoethics and Social Geosciences. As science writer, in Italy she has been awarded with the National Award for Natural Literature. Among her publications, she authored the chapter on Ethics for the Elsevier Dictionary of Geology.

is a Ph.D. in Applied Geology from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar (UCAD) after attending the Institute of Earth Sciences in Dakar where she graduated in 1993 as a geological engineer.
She also holds a degree in Public Administration of Mining (CESAM) from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris, and an MBA in Advanced Finance and Management from the Polytechnic University of West Africa (UPOA) in Dakar.
She successfully completed the Mineral Resources Regulation and Management course at Curtin University, Western Australia, as part of the Australian Awards for Africa in 2011, and the Mining Policy and Commercial Contract Negotiations course at the African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP) in 2012.
Within the Ministry of Mines and Geology, she successively held various positions:

• Director of Geology
• Director of Prospecting and Mining Promotion
• Head of the Documentation Center and Mining Cadastre of the Department of Mines and Geology
• Head of the Mining and Quarrying Division
• Head of the Regional Service of Mines and Geology of Dakar.

Currently, she is President of the Organization of African Geological Surveys (OAGS), President of the SEN-3A (Alumni of Australia) and a board member of Women In Mining Senegal and many non-political and non-profit associations (ASELFAE, AIGIST,...).

Taj-Eddine Cherkaoui: Professor of seismology, former researcher at the Scientific Institute of Mohammed V University. After studies at the universities of Jussieu (Paris VII) and Pierre and Marie Curie (Paris VI), he had his Doctorate (Ph. D.) at the Joseph Fourier University of Grenoble (1991). His research focuses mainly on seismicity, seismotectonics and the assessment of seismic hazards in Morocco. Among his numerous publications, the national earthquake file of Morocco (1901-1984).
